ECO FRIENDLY PROCEDURES
Each STRATEAS CARLUCCI product has been ethically and locally developed, with majority produced in Melbourne, Australia in small and limited production runs.
At STRATEAS CARLUCCI we aim to use eco-friendly fabrics and procedures, minimising waste and harm to the environment.
FABRIC AND DEVELOPMENT
Each item is made using fibres and fabrics which are either biodegradable, recycled, up-cycled, or produced without the use of dangerous chemicals.
STRATEAS CARLUCCI develop their entire collections in their Melbourne studio, drafting, cutting and sewing, to ensure each item is well thought out and expertly cut and made. Through rigorous design and fitting processes, STRATEAS CARLUCCI aims to make garments that last the test of time. To creating wardrobe staples which have a classic sensibility, that can be re-visited and worn time and time again.

ART SERIES
It is equally important to be able to educate, engage and inspire audiences with this vision.
In addition to our collections, STRATEAS CARLUCCI explore the re-use of waste developed and consumed by the fashion industry through a series of non-fashion experiments, called ‘Art-Series’. The aim is to explore how to repurpose waste and dead-stock, to create objects that transcend fashion to works of art.
Our mission is to be more than just ‘sustainable’, in fact, our aim is to CO-EXIST – Where nature and civilization live in harmony.
OUR MANUFACTURERS + SUPPLIERS
Majority of STRATEAS CARLUCCI Kids collections are made locally in Melbourne, Australia, and are produced no more than 15km away from our studio.
We work with local manufactures who adhere to our Code of Conduct. Supplier’s compliance help us share our mutual responsibility for fair labour and a safe working environment.
UP-CYCLE KIDS
In an effort to create less waste, STRATEAS CARLUCCI keeps discarded fabric, off-cuts and dead-stock from the seasonal main-line collections. Often the pieces are too small, obscure or oddly shaped to re-use for the adults range, so we decided to make smaller, kid-sized garments. Each item is developed and cut in our Melbourne studio, and ethically manufactured.
DEAD STOCK – UP-CYCLE
‘Dead stock’ often refers to the ‘left-over’ fabric which has been produced for a particular client from a fabric manufacturer or supplier. Often times larger companies may produce too much fabric, causing huge amounts of waste. There is nothing wrong with this fabric – in fact, most of the time the fabric is of a high-quality. The issue is overconsumption, which leads to waste.
STRATEAS CARLUCCI aims to buy majority of their seasonal collection fabric from ‘dead-stock’ which means we are not contributing to more waste, we are partaking in a solution, which is to up-cylce and re-use. Since inception STRATEAS CARLUCCI prides itself on fabric innovation and fabric development, however, over the years we have used our creative insights and knowledge on fabric development to be able to enhance dead-stock fabric, making it uniquely our own.
SLOW FASHION
Although fashion is seasonal, we design and make clothes that up-hold the values of ‘Slow Fashion’, which is for garments to live the test of time. It is important that our garments are made in the most sustainable and ethical way, however it’s also important that our garments are of a high quality and can be worn again, passed down and live the test of time. To aid this, collections are created to be genderless and non-season specific, creating an all-year round wardrobe.
“In our Art-Series we use waste to create works, highlighting key topics and talking points, which creates conversation”
ACCREDITATION
STRATEAS CARLUCCI holds a certified Woolmark licence after winning the Australian men’s and women’s awards of the International Woolmark Prize.
STRATEAS CARLUCCI also holds a certified and globally recognised ‘Australian Made’ license.
BIODEGRADABLE WOOL
We are proud to use 100% Australian Merino Wool in all our knitwear, and knit our collections entirely in Melbourne, Australia.
Wool uses 18% less energy than polyester and nearly 70% less water than cotton to produce 100 sweaters.
Wool is 100% biodegradable so does not contribute to micro-plastic pollution in our oceans or on our land.
Natural, renewable and biodegradable, wool is the most reused and recyclable fibre on the planet of the major apparel fibres.
ZERO WASTE POLICY
We manage our waste by doing as much of the work of the production process in our very own studio in-house, by carefully planning, laying and cutting fabrics in a methodical way. We strategically cut the garments and production in a way, where we are left with very little waste, and with the waste that is left, we re-use this in creative and interesting ways in our collections. For example, we use the off-cuts to create hand appliques, and custom orders, where each item is individually hand-sewn and made. We also have an initiative we call ‘Art-Series’ where we use waste to create works of art, highlighting key topics and talking points, which creates conversation.
Our packaging is completely biodegradable, and we work with supplies whom share the same vision and goals as we do. We also create Hybrid-garments, using pieces of off-cut fabric, which is often too small, to create interesting and innovative designs and details.
